The Reuniting of America

The country is divided and in a recession bordering on depression.

I think a lot of people look at the situation that we are in and choose to blame greedy bankers or perhaps power hungry and incompetent politicians. This might be the correct assumption but does it really do anything to reunite us as a country? I think not.

I have another suggestion. Think back to the great depression and what really brought us out of that situation. I mean what truly did it, not what has been discussed in the news lately.

The news has been discussing the social programs out of the great society. The building of streets, bridges, and U.S. infrastructure. I will agree that it is a good idea to build and maintain these things, but what really pulled us from the bottom of the well was a devastatingly bloody war.

World War II put the United States industrial complex into full swing pumping out equipment and supplies for all of the allied troops. On the homefront people saved, scrimped, and learned to do with less. Those individuals involved have been classified as the greatest generation. They made sacrifices that most of us can't even comprehend.

To that end I suggest that we must find a common enemy. For those of you family with The Watchmen graphic novel or movie they had a good idea of how to direct people's energy, but since we don't have superheroes or great Chthulu like aliens we have to think of something else.

I have a suggestion. We have one of those dedicated CIA spooks figure out how to make it look like North Korea or Iran fired on someone. I don't think we need to go so far as have them fire on the U.S., but if Iran fired on Israel that would be believable.

This would spur us into action, but that isn't enough. We are already mired in conflict and it isn't helping. What we need is a war so big that it involves the entire world. We need a Hitler-esse type of enemy. Someone that all righteous people in the world can love to hate.

I have the beginnings of the plan formulated but we need more minds to work on this. If you have any suggestions I beg that you comment and share your ideas. Post on this blog, start your own blog, hell start a war!
